Three Foundational Energies of Consciousness

Energy Architecture and Engineering use three foundational energies to describe common experiences: Chi, Shen, and Prana. Chi is the energy created by awareness to trigger physical movement. Shen is the energy attached to memory that informs awareness of past experiences and their results. Prana is energy that has gone through two layers of manifestation and has been acted on with another person, representing a part of collective or cultural Consciousness. To explore these energies within one's own awareness, one can ask questions related to physical sensations, memories, and interpersonal experiences.

The following are the definitions we have grown to use with Energy Architecture and Engineering to describe our most common experiences in energy. These are by no means universal definitions, and I do not proclaim myself to be an expert or master on these topics. My gratitude for the knowledge and wisdom they represent and the cultures who fostered these learnings is immense.

Without further ado, let's explore the three foundational energies that make up our manifest reality:

Chi:

Chi, in Energy Architecture and Engineering, is described as the energy created by your awareness to trigger a physical movement in varying degrees (e.g., neurological responses, adrenal responses, muscle movements, the orientation of sensory organs like eyes and ears, etc.)

Questions to help you explore what chi is within your own awareness:

What does your awareness bring forward in your physical body? Where?

What is the temperature?

What is the texture?

How does it move?

Shen:

Shen is the energy you have attached to memory that informs your awareness of where you have experienced this energy before and the likely results it could have in an environment (e.g. experiences that lead to rewards or consequences under varying degrees of desire).

Questions to help you explore what Shen is within your own awareness:

When you center on this energy, just before it manifests in your physical body, what dream symbols come up for you in this energy?

Do any memories begin to replay?

If you allow yourself to daydream on this energy, what story do you experience?

Prana:

Prana is energy that has gone through two layers of manifestation (a physical sensation and a mental experience) that has been acted on with another person is now part of an interpersonal dimension of Consciousness and represents a part of collective or cultural Consciousness and shared experience.

Questions to help you explore what prana is within your own awareness:

What kinds of conversations do you have with others using this energy?

What kinds of experiences do these conversations lead to?

How does that match up with your Shen of this energy?
